Obituary for James Jay "Jay" Morrow

James  Jay "Jay"  Morrow
James Jay Morrow of Newtown passed away on October 4, 2014 after a long illness. He was known to his family and friends as Jay. Jay was born on August 19, 1941 in Billings Montana. He is survived by his wife Nan, his two sons Jason and Scott and their wives Patricia and Lindsay, 8 sisters, two brothers and 2 grandchildren Jack and Grace. Jay graduated from the University of Montana with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. After college, he entered the US Navy where he served in active duty for 5 years and in the naval reserves for 20 years. He retired from the navy in 1989 with the rank of commander.
He worked for Tetley Tea in Shelton as a Sales Planning Manager. He enjoyed acting and was a member of the Town Players in Newtown, CT. He also enjoyed restoring antique firearms. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying American history particularly the American Civil War and WW II eras.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday October 11th at 12:00pm in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Friends may call Saturday morning from 11:00am to 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jay’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project. Woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
