Betty Ann Ecsedy (Keane)
Betty Ann Keane Ecsedy, age 83, of Newtown, beloved wife of Robert Norman Ecsedy, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and caregivers on November 7, 2014. Born in Bridgeport, Betty was the daughter of the late John F. and Helena Blake Keane, and step-daughter of Elizabeth Durga Keane. Betty and her husband Robert were married in 1957 and moved to Newtown where they raised their family of seven children and resided for the last 57 years.
Betty was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, and received her RN at St. Vincent Nursing School at St. Vincent’s Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse. She married, raised her family, and then returned to her career in nursing at Newtown High School and Danbury Hospital’s Emergency Room and Utilization departments. After retiring from nursing, Betty was co-owner and employee of the family business, Bobbex, Inc.
Betty was a devoted parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown for 57 years. Betty enjoyed reading, walking daily with friends and family, whistling and humming to music, and watching the NY Giants and Huskies Woman’s Basketball.
Betty was a kind, generous, and fun loving spirit who always opened her home and heart to family, friends, neighbors and business associates. She especially loved celebrating holidays, special occasions and family milestones, and would bring all together in her and Robert’s home in Newtown.
