Obituary for Margaret Elizabeth "Meg" Pearce

Margaret Elizabeth "Meg" Pearce
Margaret “Meg” Elizabeth Pearce, 57, most recently of Sandy Hook, died November 13 in Danbury, after a long fight with cancer. She was born in Darby, Penn., October 31, 1957.

Ms Pearce graduated from Lansdowne Aldan High School, Lansdowne, Penn., and received advanced degrees in accounting and IT. Her most joyous occupation was mother to her children Amanda Edgett of San Antonio, Texas, and Brett Pearce of Auburn, Ala. She was very active in youth organizations through her children over the years, in particular in youth soccer, where she focused on assuring every child who wanted to play soccer got to play.

She was so proud to recently see her daughter marry Amos Edgett, and to see her son receive the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout award. Although Ms Pearce made homes throughout the country and world over the years, she always maintained a presence in the lives of her friends and family, both near and far.

She was a member of Newtown United Methodist Church. She was a loving and supporting wife, world-class mother, and friend to people throughout the globe.

In addition to her children, her husband of 32 years, Bill Pearce; brothers Robert Wells and her twin Tommy Slaybaugh; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Paul English survive Ms Pearce. She will always be beloved “Aunt Peg” to many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and the “beloved” daughter-in-law of Mr and Mrs James Pearce of Morton, Penn.

A memorial service will take place from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, November 20, in Delaware County, Penn., at McCausland, Garrity, and Marshesani Funeral Home; a second service will take place at 11 am, Saturday, November 22, in the Ruth Watkin’s Memorial Garden, in front of Newtown United Methodist Church, Sandy Hook, Conn.

Memorial donations can be sent to Western Connecticut Health Network Praxair Cancer Center at
