Florence E. Allen, 86, of Sandy Hook, passed peacefully at home with her immediate family on February 2, 2015. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Allen. She was born in New Rochelle and moved to Newtown in the mid1940’s. She was the daughter of the late James and Florence Kelly.
Survivors include her brother James Kelly, her two sons Charles and James Allen; her grandchildren Jason, Lindsay, and Thomas; five great-grandchildren, and her loving daughter-in-law, Kerstin Allen, the wife of James Allen; her niece Elaine Kelly, and her beloved dog Rocky - her closest companion.
Mrs. Allen attended Hawley School and was employed as a secretary at both Lovell’s Garage and Stuart’s Insurance Company of Newtown. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and enjoyed baking and visits to the seaside. Her most treasured saying was, “Let’s go outside and let the sunshine kiss our faces.”
Family and friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Her burial at Newtown Village Cemetery, where she will rest in peace for eternity beside with her beloved husband Charles, is planned for May on a day when the sunshine can kiss the faces of all!
