Obituary for Patricia Marie "Pat" Kenning (King)

Patricia M. Kenning, 80, of Bethel, Ct., passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut Center in Danbury, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Dermot J. Kenning. Pat was born on February 22, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York to Patrick and Mary Ellen(Campbell) King. She attended St. Theresa Elementary School, Prospect Heights High School and received her nursing license from Caledonian Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She practiced nursing at Caledonian Hospital and Kings Highway Hospital for 25 years. Pat moved with her family from Brooklyn to Bethel in December 1976. She and her late husband were active members of St. Mary's Parish in Bethel. Pat was a Eucharistic Minister and taught Religious Education to special needs children. She was also a volunteer at Hospice for many years and active with meals on wheels. Pat was a passionate Brooklyn Dodger fan and enjoyed watching her children participate in sports. She enjoyed spending summers in Cape Cod with her children and grandchildren.In retirement, she traveled overseas with her husband to visit family. In addition, she was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her book club. Pat is survived by her five children, Jim and his wife Virginia of Newtown, Paul and his wife Margie of Bethel, Mary Pat and her husband John of Brookfield, Christine of Danbury ,Terence of West Dover, Vt.. She is also survived by her brother, Tom King, of Mesa, Az.. and her cousin, Helen Martens of Mount Sinai, NY. She is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Quinn, Sydney, David, Colin, Erin, Samantha, Sean and Eamon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 27th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in Bethel. Interment will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel Calling hours are Thursday, March 25th , 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown..
