Obituary for Glenna Jean Rees (Pinney)

Glenna Jean  Rees (Pinney)
Glenna Jean (Pinney) Rees, 85, of Sandy Hook died at home on April 24 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Albany, New York on October 7, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Helen Pinney Gall and Earl K. Pinney.
She grew up playing softball, bowling and skiing. She was also an avid member of the St. Matthews Choir. Glenna graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, NY in 1948.
Mrs. Rees began her career at the telephone company in Albany, NY and eventually became a supervisor. In 1966 she started working for the Red-L in Monroe, CT before moving on to the Postal system where she worked for over 30 years. She worked for Post Offices in Botsford, Sandy Hook, Newtown and Southbury before retiring from Hawleyville, Post Office.
Her passions include teaching Sunday school, singing in the Church Choir, serving Meals-on-Wheels and helping out wherever she could. Thank you Glenna for your tireless efforts to help those in need as you could. She was a loving mother to many, many people.
Glenna leaves her son Mark E. Rees and daughter-in-law Paula J. Rees of Naugatuck; three grandchildren, Chris and his wife Brandi of Wolcott, Mark and his wife Kelly, and Matthew, all of Naugatuck; four great-grandchildren and her loving little dog Maggie. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Edward I Rees and by a son, Kevin.
Friends may call at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 85 Mt. Pleasant Road, Newton on Friday, May 1st from noon-3:00pm. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00pm. A private burial will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar, NY at the discretion of the family. The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown is in charge of arrangements.
