Obituary for Albert A. Kopf

Albert A. Kopf, 89 of Newtown died peacefully at home surrounded by his adoring family on May 17th 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, NY September 5th 1925, the son of the late Emma (Bauer) Kopf and Frederick Kopf. Mr. Kopf was a dedicated and loving husband of 53 years to Anne Kopf until she passed away in 2014 and was a loving father to his daughter Susan Corigliano, and her husband Frank of Newtown and to his son Steven Kopf and his wife Joyce of Milford. He adored his three grandsons, Frank, Jack and Michael Corigliano with whom he lived for the past 11 years. Mr. Kopf fought for his country in WWII and was a Staff Sergeant in the 3rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion under General Patton. He graduated from Harvard University, Magna Cum Laude and then worked for many years at Bristol-Meyers as a head chemist. Before he lived in Newtown, Mr. Kopf was a longtime resident of Norwalk. Cooking and reading and listening to music were among his favorite pastimes. Our Hero was a patient and kind man and he will be greatly missed by all. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown Thursday May 21st from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown Friday May 22nd at 10:30am. Interment with military honors will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery.
