Irene Mias, 87, of Sandy Hook passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18. Born on July 25, 1927 in Bayside New York, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Ann (Humenik) Evancik. Irene and her late husband Stanley lived in Lindenhurst, NY for 44 years and moved to Sandy Hook in 1996. She is survived by her son Kenneth and his wife Diana, her son Gregory and his wife Sue, her daughter Sharon and her husband Robert, and grandchildren Kurt, Christopher, Sarah, Katie, Lauren, Ames, and Ethan. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown from 11AM to 1PM Monday, June 22nd. There will be a short funeral service at the funeral home at 1PM followed by the interment at St. Rose Cemetery.
