Obituary for Albert Francis "Al" Sampley

Al Francis Sampley, 91 of Newtown passed away August 27, 2015. He was born February 6, 1923 in Somerville, MA the son of Harry G. Sampley and Marjorie (Partridge) Sampley
A decorated war hero and well respected antique dealer for over 50 years, Al co-owned Almar Antiques of Wells, Maine with his devoted wife, Mary Ann.

He was an aviator, serving in the U.S. Army during WWII and as the captain of the Civil Air Patrol based in Monroe, CT. Al was a member of VFW Post 308 in Newtown.

An avid sportsman, he had a penchant for breaking records, he competed in midget car racing and bowling a perfect game. He loved golf, fishing, hunting, boating & skiing. He was an extraordinary photographer and artist. His dry humor was remarkable!

He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (Killian) Sampley and his dear friends, the Albanese family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 2, 2015 at 11:00am in Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main St., Newtown. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery. Friends may call at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown Tuesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
