Kathleen Ann Haverty, 53, of Newtown passed away on December 17, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Kathleen was born in Detroit, MI on February 1, 1963 to the late Patrick and Constance Haverty. Kathleen was the beloved wife to James Freeman for 33 years. Dear mother to Meghann Freeman, Jamie Freeman, and Kaitlin Freeman. Loving sister to Mary Haverty and Patricia Haverty.
Kathleen attended Mercy Catholic High school in Detroit and completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at Indiana University. A gifted athlete, Kathleen began figure skating when she was just five years old. She traveled all over the country to train and compete alongside many Olympic champions. A woman of many hobbies, Kathleen was also an avid gardener and creative seamstress. Kathleen was dedicated to her work as a protein scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim for over 10 years.
Kathleen will be remembered for her selflessness, compassion, sense of humor and bravery, She touched many lives, bringing a smile to everyone’s face and always putting others before herself. She cared for both her parents in their old age with patience and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Thursday December 22nd at 10:30am.
