Obituary for Amil W. Muzzio Sr.

Amil W. Muzzio, Sr., formerly of Norwalk, died peacefully in his sleep at his Village of Brookfield residence on May 2, 2017. He was 91. Mr. Muzzio was born and raised in Stamford, CT. He graduated from Technical School in Stamford, where he studied Electrical.
At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in WWII. He was assigned to the Destroyer USS Mayrant (DD-402). During his time on the USS Mayrant, he took part in battles for Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. His ship earned three battle stars for her service in World War II.
After returning from WWII, he enjoyed long career as a gas and electric serviceman for CL&P, now Eversource. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Deierlein Muzzio. The couple met through friends at The Newman Social Club and they were happily married for 52 years. Their love was truly beautiful and will last forever.
He is survived by his son Amil W. Muzzio, Jr., his wife, Patricia and their daughters Alexandra and Sophia all of Sandy Hook; his daughter Katherine Grigg, her husband Edward and their son Kaz, of Norwalk.
He will be dearly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on June 19th at St. Mary’s Church in Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk.
