Marshall F. Zitnay, age 105 previously a longtime resident of Newtown died July 13, 2017 in Lord Chamberlain Nursing home, Stratford. He was born in Bridgeport June 7, 1912 a son of Stephen and Mary (Yacko) Zitnay. Mr. Zitnay began his working career at Chance Vought which eventually became Sikorsky Aircraft. He retired as Building Superintendent from Avco-Lycoming Textron in 1977. In retirement Marshall was an avid fisherman and he spent many early mornings fishing Taunton Lake. A resident of Newtown from 1947 to 2014, Mr. Zitnay was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church. Survivors include his daughter, Carole Chapman of New York; a grandson Gregory Hopkins of Stratford; 2 great granddaughters, Shelley Hopkins of Waterbury and Heather Pierelli of Lake Worth, FL and a great great granddaughter Serenity Pierelli. Marshall was predeceased by his wife, Anna in 2003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church Wednesday July 19 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.
