Obituary for Marilyn Ann Morrissey-Montray

Marilyn Morrissey-Montray, wife of the late Edward H. Montray died unexpectedly Tuesday September 10th at her home in Newtown. She was born in Bronxville, NY a daughter of the late John and Viola (Crane) Morrissey and lived in Westchester County most of her life. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband and best friend Edward and her brother John. Loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by daughter Susan Hubbard-Gordon and husband Clyde; son Phillip Hubbard and wife Yukiko; stepdaughter Mary Lynn Schall and husband George; and stepdaughter Margaret Montray; seven beautiful grandchildren, Rachel Fontenault, Sarah Hubbard, Hannah and Alexander Hubbard, Jessica Mann, Gregory Gould and Riley Montray; ten cherished great-grandchildren, Kerith, Seth, Henri, Yariel, Adalynn, Carlton, Ruth, Cyrus, Carson and Hailey. Marilyn is also survived by brother Richard and wife Mary; sister-in-law Sandra (DeStefano) Morrissey; dear friend Linda Bauer and an extended family of relations and friends.
Before coming to Connecticut, she resided in Westchester County, NY and had lived in Newtown since 1988. In addition to opening a miniature shop in Chappaqua, NY she worked for AMF, General Foods, Industrial Solvents and IBM over the years. Marilyn was a member of St. Rose of Lima Women’s Club, St. Faustina’s Cenacle, Mother Teresa’s Lay Missionary of Charity, the Bereavement Group, the Prayer Shawl Group, Spiritual Journey and Elinor’s House.

Friends may call Monday September 16, 2019 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am Tuesday September 17, 2019 at her beloved St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.
