Obituary for Alexey Avertisyan

Alexey Avetisyan, 55, of Newtown, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 8, 2022, finding peace after a long battle with cancer. He joins his wife, Anne Marie Boidi, deceased 2011. Alexey will be deeply missed by his son, Emmanuel Avetisian, his sister, Nina Kulakov, her husband Pavel Kulakov, his brother, Eduard Avetisyan, and friends and family worldwide.

Alexey was born on July 26, 1966, in Moscow, Russia. His father, Ruben Avetisyan, was a professional violist, and Alexey followed in his steps. His life was dedicated to playing classical violin. It was his passion.

Alexey graduated the prestigious Gnesinka music school and rose to first violinist and concert master in National Symphony Orchestra of Moscow and Guido Cantelli Orchestra of Milan, travelling and performing worldwide. Alexey met his wife, Anne Marie, in Milan and was married in September 28, 2002. They then came to San Francisco, where Emmanuel was born in 2006. The family moved to Newtown in 2010, and Anne Marie tragically passed.

Alexey dedicated the remainder of his life to raising his son. He was the consummate host and performer, playing violin for local benefits and entertaining friends. He loved cooking and served friends and family delicious culinary dishes, Italian dishes being his specialty! Alexey spoke three languages and had friends all over the world. He became an American citizen in 2016.

Alexey was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and endured years of chemotherapy, surgeries, and medical visits under the care of his devoted sister, Nina. He remained a loyal and caring father to the end. Alexey Avetisyan left us too soon and will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will say goodbye to Alexey on Monday, April 18 from 4-7 pm at Honan Funeral Home
