Obituary for Cosmo John Randazzo

Cosmo John Randazzo, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Danbury, Connecticut after a long illness. Born in the Bronx on October 28, 1936 to Mary and Frank Randazzo, Cosmo spent his early years on Colden Avenue but lived most of his life in the Locust Point section of the Bronx. Cosmo met the love of his life, Amelia (Amy) on a blind date. Cosmo and Amy married in 1961 and raised three children together. They were blessed to be able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary together this past April. .
Upon graduating from Iona College, Cosmo began a career in real estate but soon left that to enter the family business, Randazzo’s Seafood, on Arthur Avenue. In 1980, along with his brother, Ben, Cosmo purchased Shelter Cove Marina on the Long Island Sound in the Bronx, which they owned and operated until their retirement in 2004. In 2018, Cosmo and Amy moved to Newtown, Connecticut to be closer to their children.
Cosmo was an avid boater and fisherman. His greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved to teach his children and grandchildren to fish for striped bass and to let his grandchildren steer his Grady-White boat while they sat on his lap. However, nothing made him happier than eating Sunday dinner or a holiday meal with his entire family around him.
He is predeceased by his siblings Anna Rosa, Rose Biancardi and Ben Randazzo. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children and their spouses, Marie and Arthur Cuomo of New City, NY, Frank and Valerie Randazzo of Weston, CT and Michelle and Peter D’Aprile of Sandy Hook, CT.
Cosmo (aka Papa) will be sorely missed by his seven grandchildren, Riva Rosen and her husbans Max, Alexis Kantor, Isabella Randazzo, Cosmo Randazzo, Sofia Randazzo, Francesca D’Aprile and Samuel D’Aprile. He also leaves behind one much-adored great-grandchild, Miles Rosen, as well as many nieces and nephews.
