Obituary for Dolores Ann Bertola (Caggiano)

Dolores Ann Bertola (Caggiano), 90 of Shelton, CT entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Dolores was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 6, 1932 to James and Anna Caggiano. She resided in Milford, CT for most of her life where she raised her family with her first husband, the late Rudolph Jovanelly. She enjoyed her career as an Electrical Assembler at Burndy Corporation in Milford.
Dolores was proud of her Italian Heritage which really showed through her passion and expertise of creating the most deliciously cooked meals. Her love of food did not end there. She also loved enjoying good food with family and friends. Another one of her passions was The New York Yankees. She especially loved cheering on her favorite athlete, Derek Jeter. She held a special place in her heart for her cat, “Jeter”.
Dolores was proud to be the Matriarch of her family, who she loved immensely. Her family was her world. She had the biggest heart and would always put those she loved before herself. She cared so deeply and loved so hard. To know her was to love her, and she will be missed dearly. She left her family with endless memories.

Dolores is survived by her children; Ronald Jovanelly (Lisa) of Milford, CT, Donna Smith (Jeffrey) of Dover, NH. and Deanne Salito of Stratford, CT.
Her Grandchildren; Heather Sinnott (Christian), Jade Laflamme (Michael), Amy Jovanelly, Beth Jovanelly, Jessica DelMedico, and James DelMedico.
Beloved Great Grandchildren; Hayley, Collin, Logan, Sarah, Sadie, Molly and Mila, several nieces, nephews and lifetime friends.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was predeceased by her husband Francis Bertola, her son August (Augie) Jovanelly, her son in law Jeffrey Salito, her brothers; Joseph Caggiano, and Vincent Caggiano, her sisters; Rose Caggiano Jenkins, and Molly Caggiano Bucker, and sister in law Amalia Caggiano.

To honor Dolores’s wishes, a private burial will be conducted, followed by a celebration of her life that will be held at a later date.
