Obituary for Emmett Driscoll

Emmett Driscoll, 76, of Fleischmanns, NY, and previously of New York City, died peacefully at his daughter's home, in Sandy Hook.
He was born April 20th, 1937, in New York, son of the late Timothy and Mildred Driscoll. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Katherine (Kay) nee Vaughan, and his brother's Brian (surviving wife Lauren), and Donald (surviving wife Pat).

Emmett is survived by his daughter, Katherine Sullivan, of Sandy Hook, CT, and his son, Michael Sullivan, and his wife Siobhan of Woodside, Queens; Three adoring grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rose, Ashling Clare, and Michael Emmett. He is also survived by his brothers, Gene (predeceased wife Joan) and Timothy (wife Peggy); his sisters Pat Schiller (predeceased husband, Bob), and Sheila Driscoll. Emmett has 16 nieces and nephews, and 24 great nieces and nephews.

He served in the Army, and graduated Iona College. Emmett retired in 1990, as Senior Vice President of the Bank of New York. Emmett and Kay, while living in NYC, also began spending more time at their 40 acre farmhouse in Fleischmanns, NY. This is also where Emmett found his 2nd love, his John Deere hydrologic tractor!

He also leaves behind numerous friends, many dating back to childhood. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Emmett and Kay where full of life and joy, and they shared freely with all. No one was a stranger for long in their company or their home. Their Annual St. Patrick's Day party and parade, each year, scheduled the weekend before St. Patrick's Day, was not as widely recognized as NYC Parade, but, double the fun! Busloads of pipers and drummers, green line down Red Kill Road, in sun, snow, or rain, enhanced the activities! Sit down dinner for 65 was not unheard of, along with over 50 lbs. of corned beef, and dozens and dozens of Irish Soda Breads shared!

Friends may call Tuesday, June 25thfrom 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, June 26th, at 10:30am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY will follow.
