Obituary for Frederic Albert "Fred" Collins
Frederic Albert Collins, 87, of Newtown, passed away on December 13. He was the widower of Arlene E. Collins. He was born in New Milford, son of Albert Collins and Eva Cieklinski, and raised in New Preston, Conn.
He is survived by his two brothers, Garth Collins, and Paul Collins and wife, Kaye. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Verne Leavenworth and Faye Mitchell.
With an enormous heart, he raised his three sons, two daughters, two granddaughters, and two step-children: Fred Collins, Jr, and wife, Brandy; Eric Collins and wife, Kathy; Jenny Stickle and husband, Darwin; Richard Collins; Lisa Johnson; Tina Keeler and husband, Robert; Jessica Collins; Lori Johnson and husband, Aaron; and Jerry Laughlin. In addition, he will be greatly missed by his numerous grandchildren and loved ones, Janet Goodbou, Nick Collins, Ashley Richmond, Cody and Bianca Bennet, Michael and Steven Keeler, Faith Stickle, and Zachary and Cody Johnson, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He proudly served in the US Navy for over 12 years. He worked at New Milford Volkswagen with his sister Verne and his brother Garth before becoming a boiler tender at WCSU. He had a passion for woodworking and tinkering in his shed. He was known by “Daddy” to many who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 28, from 10 am to 1 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery.
