Obituary for George Paul Wnuck

George Paul  Wnuck
George P. Wnuck, 87 of Newtown, passed away Sunday January 23, 2011 in Danbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Leola Wnuck.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois September 9, 1923 a son of the late John and Ida (Boehnke) Wnuck. He served in the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant in the Weather Squadron, stationed at Fort Sam Houston during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. After his service in the Armed Forces, Mr. Wnuck graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology, majoring in Industrial Engineering.
George was employed for his entire career at Owens-Illinois, rising to the position of General Manager. He was stationed in Aurora, Indiana; Milan, Michigan; Dusseldorf, Germany; Mexico City, Mexico and Worchester, Massachusetts.
George Wnuck will be remembered by his family as a devoted family man who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved to fish and he enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his children; Sandra Martin and her husband Michael of Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, Dr. Cynthia Cornelius and her husband Russell of Brookfield, Wayne Wnuck and his wife Donna of South Windsor, David Wnuck and his wife Lisa of Cheshire; a sister, Edith Wnuck of Cheshire; his grandchildren, Stefanie and Kristen Wnuck of South Windsor, Anne and Thomas Wnuck of Cheshire, Christi Kennedy of Pascoag, Rhode Island and great-grandsons Colin and Brady Kennedy.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday January 31, 2011 at 11:00am in Christ the King Lutheran Church, Newtown. Friends may call in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Christ the King Church, 85 Mount Pleasant Road, Newtown, CT 06470 will be appreciated.
