Obituary for Janet Ann "Jan" Craig

Janet Ann (Trombley) Craig (formerly Krosky) passed away on April 5, 2022. Jan was born on August 30, 1936, in Bridgeport, CT to Clarence Trombley and Louise Conaty Trombley. Anyone who spoke with Jan, especially in recent years, knew her children were her pride and joy, whom she raised mostly on her own. She loved and spoke about each of them frequently and proudly and never forgot them despite her diagnosis of dementia. Her children learned many things from their Mom that they will cherish forever, and she provided these lessons by example and gentle, regular reminders and adages. Her strength, independence, and sense of humor were traits that stood out to the very end as well as her love for chocolate chip cookies, which all her children inherited. She was very passionate about animals and had cats and dogs most of her life. Jan could often be found in the garden; she had a remarkable gift for nurturing flowers and plants and felt compelled to pick weeds, no matter where she saw them. She had the same gift in the kitchen, creating amazing meals – many of which cannot be replicated to this day as she had that special touch. The outdoors was where she loved to be – as a child playing sports with the neighborhood boys and as an adult, teaching her children and grandchildren how to fish and about the way nature evolves with the change of seasons. Jan also enjoyed going for long walks to soak in the sun and absorb the beauty along the way. Her Irish heritage was something she embraced and made the trip to Ireland twice, on her own, in her late 60s. Jan spent many years working in the banking industry and took on side jobs to better support her family. We know she is now in peace and reunited with her parents and other relatives and friends who have gone before her.
Jan is survived by her six children Mary (Krosky) Caruso and her husband John of Monroe, Michael Krosky of Hawaii, Joseph Krosky of Newtown, Lisa (Krosky) Skelly and her husband Stephen of Cheshire, Linda (Krosky) Molfetta of Missouri City, TX and Erick Krosky and his wife Beverly of Scottsdale, AZ. Jan is also survived by ten grandchildren (Michelle, Lauren, Joseph, Stephen, Devin, Kaleigh, Hailee, Lacie, Arnie, and Inday) and eight great-grandchildren (James, Samson, Leo, Emilia, Cecilia, Grayson, Henry, and Parker). She is predeceased by her ex-husband, Joseph Krosky, and her 2 infant sisters.
The family is holding a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, May 7, from 2:00-4:00 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. There will be a private burial.
