Obituary for John W. Keegan

John W. Keegan, 82, of Newtown, beloved husband of Wanda and loving father of Wendy Whelan and John Keegan, entered into eternal rest on November 16, 2022 at Bethel Health Care Center.
John was born in Stonington, CT and raised in Bridgeport. John graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical School, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was so proud of his service as a Seabee (construction battalion) and was stationed in Newfoundland, Canada and Illinois. John enjoyed his career at Avco-Lycoming (later Textron, then Honeywell) as a machinist/gear cutter.
He married the love of his life, Wanda and made their home in Newtown, CT for over 50 years and enjoyed a 58-year marriage full of travel, including his most treasured trip to Ireland.
In his retirement, he volunteered for eight years at the Cyrenius H. Booth Library including the annual book sale. He enjoyed the summer music festivals and more recently, numerous activities at the Newtown Senior Center.
A true gentleman and loyal friend, John's most precious gift was his family. He made sure to attend every event, be quick with a joke and ensured that everyone always had photos of everything.
John is survived by his wife, Wanda (Bilida) Keegan; daughter, Wendy (Tim) Whelan of Sandy Hook; son, John (Yvonne) Keegan of Montville; grandchildren, Kristen (Robert Creighton) Whelan, Jamie (fiancee Morgan Luzzi) Whelan and Jack Whelan; great grandson, Robert J. Keegan and Ruth (Dinan) Keegan Fisher, and brothers Michael Keegan and Donald C. Keegan.
