John (Jack) Joseph Leitner of Newtown, CT passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the age of 87. He was born on September 1, 1932 in Teaneck, NJ. Oldest son of John and Margaret Leitner. Survived by wife of 63 years, Luella (McDermott), sister Barbara, brother Joseph, children Mary, John, Monica and Mark, grandchildren Teresa, Clare, Joe, Molly, Jack, Thomas, Patrick and Jennifer, and great-grandchild Oscar. Jack graduated from Fordham University, served in the Army, and had a career in sales, primarily at Uniroyal, Inc. Active in Knights of Columbus for many years. Coached Newtown Pop Warner football for 20 years. Funeral services (private) at 11 AM on Friday, July 17 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. Interment at St. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Rose or Knights of Columbus Council # 185.
