Joseph V. Komornik, 88 of Newtown passed away Saturday January 25th in Danbury Hosptial. Joe was born in Bridgeport on July 28, 1931, he was the 13th child of the late Henry and Anne (Dest) Komornik. He was raised in Bridgeport and Stratford before moving to Newtown 64 years ago. Joe enjoyed woodworking, gardening and time with his family. Joe is survived by his five daughters and their spouses, Dawn Komornik of Watertown, Holly (Joseph) Kocet of Newtown, Robin (Alan) Austin of Danbury, Tami Komornik of Southbury, and Heather (Steve) Cronin of Watertown; his five grandchildren, Ryan McNally (Ashley), Kristen Behr (Bill), Matthew Kocet, Samantha Cronin, and Mandy Cronin; his three great-grandchildren Lily Grace, Kinley & Olivia Behr and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his devoted wife Theresa (Koczy), two brothers Michael and John Komornik and 9 sisters, Mary Gernat, Anne Sebastian, Christine Komornik, Stephanie Tomasko, Rose Komornik, Frances Hermanson, Theresa, Helen, and Dorothy Komornik.
Friends and family may call Tuesday, January 28th, from 4 to 7 pm at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 29th at 10:30 am in St Rose of Lima, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment with Military Honors will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 208 South Main Street, Newtown.
