Obituary

Obituary for Joseph Thomas "Joe" Siklos

Joseph Thomas Siklos, 75, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 25, 2019. He was born in Ghant, Hungary on December 22, 1943, to Joseph and Elisabeth (Zimmerman) Siklos. Joe was a resident of Brookfield for over 43 years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgia (Gilbert) Siklos, who cared for him faithfully throughout his illness. He was the beloved father of Margret Lovello and Linda DeStefano of Brookfield, CT, the beloved father-in-law of Mark DeStefano, and the adored grandfather of eight grandchildren, Nichole, Amanda and David Lovello, Alex, Olivia, Matthew, Elizabeth and Ava DeStefano, and one great grandchild, Grayson Haggas. He is also survived by his sisters, Elisabeth Juritsch (Liesl) and Theresa Altvater (Rasel), eleven nieces and nephews, and seventeen great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Margret, his parents, his sister Frances and his brother Gregory.

He was a graduate of Samuel Gompers, Bronx, NY where he learned his trade as an Engineer. After moving to Brookfield, Joe formed his company distributing traffic lights, Marlin Controls, Inc., Danbury, CT which he owned for close to forty years. He served on the Republican Town Committee and the Brookfield Police Commission.
His greatest passion was spending time with his family and friends, along with traveling and spending winters at his home in Vero Beach, Florida. Joe loved seeing smiles on people’s faces, telling stories, making them laugh and genuinely helping anyone in whatever way he could. He loved his family unconditionally and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His family would like to thank from the bottom of their hearts, the caring and professional staffs of the Praxair Cancer Center, Visiting Angels and his favorite nurse, Margaret, from Western Connecticut Home Care for their dedicated and loving care.

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 28, from 5 to 8 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass will be held in celebration of his life on Friday, March 29, at 10:00 am, at St. Joseph’s Church, 163 Whisconier Road, Brookfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider making a donation to The Brookfield Education Foundation. www.brookfieldeducationfoundation.org
