Obituary for Julia DeSousa
Julia S. DeSousa, 92, of Sandy Hook passed away on December 3, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Julia was born in Ossining, New York on March 9, 1927, the daughter of Antonio and Rosalina Soares. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Manuel DeSousa. Their loving bond of 56 years brought love and kindness to many. Julia is survived by her daughters, Julia Ricca of Monroe and Helena Nitowski (Arthur) of Westerly, Rhode Island. She is also survived by four loving grandchildren: Peter Pinto (Tammy) of Stamford, Victoria May of Monroe, Paul LaTerra (Stephanie) of Skillman, New Jersey, and Daniel LaTerra (Anne) of Northford. Julia was also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Skylar, Taylor, Jordan, Alex, Paulie, Tea, and Cecilia. It was through her love and support that we all grew to be the best version of ourselves. She may no longer be with us but she lives forever in us.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday December 6, 2019 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown on Saturday December 7, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
