Dr. Kathleen Denise Moody, 62, of Newtown, died 11 January 2019, following a protracted illness. She was born 25 October 1956 in Allentown, PA, the only child of Burton E. and Helen Moody.
Her daughters, Lora Kristen Streett and Gretchen Ilse Streett and her loving husband, Dr. Walter Streett, all of Newtown, survive her and hold her in their prayers.
Dr. Moody attended The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA, graduating with degrees in Animal Science and Biology, continued on to graduate with a veterinary medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA and completed residency training in Laboratory Animal and Comparative Medicine at Pennsylvania State University Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.
She interned at Detwiler Veterinary Clinic, Reading, PA, then Clinical Professor, Section of Comparative Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine from 1986 through 2001. She concurrently and subsequently served as consultant and/or interim clinician for Bayer Corporation, West Haven; Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Ridgefield and 15 other biomedical research organizations.
Kathleen made a career change around 2005, began part-time studies for the Chaplaincy through Hartford Seminary, Hartford, CT, graduating with the degree of Master of Arts in Transformative Leadership and Spirituality in May 2018. She enjoyed reading, cross stitch, Prayer Shawl Ministry, flower arranging, cooking and watching the myriads of birds congregating at the home bird feeder. A compassionate individual and a good listener, Kathleen enriched the lives of many convalescents and hospice residents throughout the region as she pursued her clinical practice exercises.
A Requiem Eucharist followed by interment in the Trinity Memorial Garden will take place at Trinity Church, 36 Main Street, Newtown at a time to be announced.
