Lawrence A. "Larry"  Cavanaugh
Lawrence A. Cavanaugh of Newtown, CT passed away on March 23, 2018 at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Waterbury, CT on September 6, 1937, son of the late John and Frances (Pettit) Cavanaugh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marcia, by his beloved daughter, and son-in-law Nancy and Bill Patrizio, and by his adored granddaughter, Cristina. His younger brother, David, survives him as well.
He was a cum laude graduate of Fairfield University, Trinity College and the University of Connecticut School of Law. He was a member of the Connecticut and New York Bar Associations.
He was a Patent Attorney and Corporate Attorney for United Technologies for more than 30 years. He worked also for Siemans A.G. in New York City.
Upon retirement, he operated his own real estate management firm, Heights Realty and Management. He served as President of the Connecticut chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Managers (IREM) and taught at Naugutuck Valley Community College.
He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church where he served as usher for many years and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard.
Larry was loved and admired for his keen intellect, quick wit and charming personality. He was an excellent swimmer, skier and golfer. He enjoyed travel to every country in Europe, each of the United States as well as Canada and Mexico.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, John and Dr. Roland Cavanaugh.
The family will receive friends at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown on Thursday April 5 from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose Church, Church Hill Rd., Newtown on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetary, Sandy Hook, CT.
