Lorenz Mang, husband of Heidi Mang, passed away peacefully in his sleep June 11th. He was born in Oberschweinbach, Germany in April 1932. He and his wife resided in Newtown for the past 16 years. Lorenz's survivors include his daughter Doris and her husband Tim of Newtown, his daughter Susi and her husband Tommy of York, Maine, and his son Andreas and his wife Megan of West Hartford. Also surviving are his 9 grandchildren - Tyler, Connnor, Jack, Timmy, Will, Allie, Reece, Liesl and Christian.

Lorenz came from a large family of 8 children and grew up on his family farm in Bavaria. In 1955 he immigrated to America, joining the U.S. Army in the backdrop of World War II. He met his wife Heidi while skiing at Kitzbuhler Horn in Austria, in1978 they settled in the Branchville section of Ridgefield, where together they raised their three children. He became a U.S. citizen in 1990, and a proud German-American. Lorenz enjoyed tennis, skiing, hiking, singing, dancing, a good meal and a warm beer. He will be greatly missed.
