Margaret Clayton-Amey, age 72 of Oxford, passed away April 21st, 2013 at home. She was the beloved wife of Brian Amey. Mrs. Clayton- Amey was born in Fowey, Cornwall England, September 23, 1940 the daughter of the late John William Clayton and Rhoda Clayton. She was predeceased by three siblings; John Clayton, Mary Timms and Ellalleen Clayton. Her sister Rhoda Jackson is her sole surviving sibling together with six nephews and nieces and seven grand-nephews and nieces all in the U.K and Europe. In addition to her husband Brian, survivors include two sons; Tony Masiello, his wife Quan and their daughter Kristianna, of Stoughton, MA; Andrew Masiello, his wife Lenay and their four children, Lauren, Micheal, Jessie and Jonathan of Harrisburg, NC, one daughter, Joanne Gardner and her husband Norman of Sandy Hook. Margaret had may passions outside of her beloved family; an enthusiastic gardener and an accomplished quilter, a former president of Nutmeg Quilters CT and a member of Scrapbag Quilters of Newtown and the Material Girls Group of Oxford Greens. Over the years her love of animals has been her hobby, in particular, border collies, beagles and dachshunds as well as a variety of cats. Well-travelled, she enjoyed visiting interesting lands in Europe and Asia, including China and Thailand. She became a U.S. citizen in July 1977 and enjoyed learning about her adopted country. Friends are invited to pay respects at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Thursday April 25th from4:00pm to 8:00pm.Cremation will be private. A memorial gathering to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held Saturday May 25th at 1:00pm in the Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole) Newtown.
