Obituary for Michael Alan "Mike" Marusa

Michael Alan "Mike" Marusa
Michael A. Marusa, 60, of State College, PA, previously of Newtown and Fairfield, CT, died peacefully June 25th, living life to the fullest. Born in Bridgeport, CT, September 15, 1955, he was the son of the late Michael G. and Margaret M. (Danis) Marusa. He was the cherished husband of Katherine A.(Salisbury) Marusa for 39 years.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children David J. Marusa of New Cumberland, PA; Laura A. Brennan and her husband Michael of Newtown, CT; and Michael A. Marusa and his wife Christie of State College, PA; his grandchildren Kevin, Kelsey and Justin Brennan and Ryan and Jack Marusa; his brothers John M. Marusa of West Haven, CT and Richard A. D. Marusa of Shelton, CT; as well as several nieces, nephews, Godchildren and cousins. His brother Robert S. Marusa of Fairfield, CT predeceased him.
Mike’s family was the joy of his life. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and man of faith who lived each moment with a smile on his face and a humor that made it all fun. He loved golfing, home brewing, cycling, coaching and telling jokes to his grandchildren.
Mike worked a proud career as a co-worker, mentor and friend in the beverage industry and in healthcare sales. Mike’s love of life, ambition and dedication to success were exemplified in his non-traditional pursuit of his college degree which he earned from Charter Oak at the age of 48. His antics kept us laughing, his love was our greatest blessing and his embodiment of faith sustained us. He taught us how to live life and we are all better for having known him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Rose of Lima RC Church, Newtown, Thursday, June 30th at 10:30am. Friends may call at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Wednesday, June 29th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made in his name to the Charter Oak State College Foundation, 55 Paul Manafort Drive, New Britain, CT 06053 or online atwww.charteroak.edu/foundation/give.cfm. There could be no greater legacy for Mike than giving another the opportunity to pursue their dreams. To leave an online condolence visit www.honanfh.com
