Obituary for Robert Edward "Bob" Biscoe
Robert (Bob) Edward Biscoe, 63, passed away on January 29, 2019 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Despite many medical issues over the years, he lived life to the fullest until a recent cancer diagnosis. Bob was born on September 9, 1955 in Stamford, CT to Robert John and Joyce Biscoe. He grew up in Danbury and Newtown, CT where he graduated from Henry Abbott Technical High School in 1973 where he studied drafting. Bob then went on to graduate from Waterbury State Technical College in 1976 with an Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering. In 1979, he began working for IBM at T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. Bob was incredibly proud to work for IBM where he designed circuit boards and contributed to many important technological developments as a project manager. After 36 devoted years, he retired from IBM in 2015 and continued working at Global Foundries until his death.
In 1987, he met the love of his life, Charlotte and they were married on October 1, 1989 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Bethel, CT. Bob and Charlotte spent thirty years building a wonderful life together and relocated to Cary, NC with IBM in 1998. They have two children, Sarah and Andrew. Bob was incredibly proud of his family’s accomplishments. Sarah will be graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in May and having graduated from UNC-G, Andrew works in Boston, MA for an international manufacturing company in the operations department.
Bob was a sports fanatic whose favorite teams were the New York Giants and the New York Yankees as well as a NASCAR and stock car fan. Having moved from Connecticut where Bob was an inaugural ticket holder for the Hartford Whalers, he continued to be a season ticket holder for the Carolina Hurricanes for 18 years. The highlight of his enthusiasm for hockey was attending the game in 2006 when the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup.
He was happiest puttering around in his garage tinkering with his hot rods and working in the yard. Bob was a perfectionist in everything he did, no matter how inconsequential the task. Bob’s family describes him as the most selfless person, always willing to give of himself and help others.
Bob is survived by his loving family: wife Charlotte of 30 years, daughter Sarah, son Andrew, mother Joyce of Newtown, CT, sister, Barbara (George) Tzepos of Middlebury, CT, in-laws Inge and Calvin Titus of Hendersonville, NC, brother-in-law Greg (Saisunee) of St. Petersburg, FL, cousins Barbara and Kevin Boyle and their two sons, Ryan and Dylan, of Massapequa Park, NY and eleven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert John, and his brother, Bruce.
Friends may call Friday, February 8 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, CT. A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 10 A.M. at Newtown United Methodist Church, Sandy Hook, CT. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown, CT.
We are grateful that Bob was able to be an organ donor. We as a family are blessed that he has provided a gift to someone else. This experience has shown us the importance of organ donation.
