Obituary for Rose A. Bomely

Rose A. Bomely, passed peacefully on December 15, 2022 in Trumbull CT, at the age of 93, with family at her side.
Rose was born in New York, NY on August 5, 1929, the daughter of John (Jack) and Winifred Conway. She was the eldest of five children.
Rose and her late husband Robert H. Bomely Sr. enjoyed 63 years of marriage and raised four children. The eldest Nannette E. Sheley and husband Darrel, Robert H. Bomely Jr. (predeceased) and wife Jodi, Bruce E. Bomely and wife Mary and Richard A. Bomely (predeceased). Rose’s extended family included seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Rose and Bob moved a lot over the years. The first in 1974 from Connecticut to Indiana, then to Ohio, onto Maryland and back to Connecticut. Once back in Connecticut Rose worked in a medical office as an office manager until retirement.
Rose and Bob retired to Charleston, SC where they enjoyed 23 wonderful years together.
During their retirement they enjoyed many years of travel. Rose was very active with the Women’s Guild at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church on Folly Beach. This led to many great friendships and the expansion of her social circle. Lunches with the ladies and concerts at the Charleston Symphony. She was an experienced guide at the Edmondston – Alston House on the Battery https://www.edmondstonalston.org/ and took great pride in conveying its history to all who came to see the house. The connection with the “EA House” made it possible to see other historical sites in the Charleston area. When family and friends came to visit, Rose would take them to a variety of historical sights and loved every moment.
Rose enjoyed watching pro-football and baseball. She loved the Met’s and any football game, usually rooting for the underdog. Weekends she would pour a glass of wine along with cheese and crackers and settle in for a day of pro-ball. She later became a fan of the UConn Ladies basketball program. She and Bob would often watch the games together. If she wasn’t watching a game, you would find her reading the newspaper from front to back, sometimes twice. She loved to read the paper and watch the news.
Rose returned to Connecticut from Charleston SC in 2019 to be closer to family. She was a resident of Spring Meadows in Trumbull where she made many new friends.
Rose is also survived by her brothers Bob Conway and wife Audrey and Don Conway and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her bothers Jack Conway, Jim Conway and sister in-laws Marilyn and Nancy.
The family wishes to thank all the Staff at Spring Meadows for their loving care and compassion toward Rose and her family.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 20, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church in Brookfield, CT with a luncheon afterwards. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol, CT for both Rose and Bob at a later date.
