Obituary for Suzanne Murren "Sue" Gardner

It is with great sadness that the family of Suzanne "Sue" Murren Gardner announce her passing on October 25, 2022. Sue was born on June 7, 1940 in Manchester, NH. She grew up in a french speaking household in NH which developed her love of the French language. English was her second language which she learned when she was 12 yrs old. She played tennis in high school and college. Sue attended Emmanuel College in Boston and graduated from Notre Dame College with a teaching degree. Sue attended New England Conservatory of Music since she had a love for music and had a classically trained operatic voice; she was a soloist at Symphony Hall.

She was a French Teacher at Melrose School in Brewster, NY and taught tennis part time. She left her school teaching position and started teaching tennis full time. She taught all her daughters tennis along with students from local towns thru their Parks and Recreation departments and had lessons on her home tennis court. She was called "Mother Tennis". She taught tennis for more than 50 years and stopped teaching at the age of 80 when covid hit. She had a great love of travel to tennis tournaments, going to tennis conferences and traveling with her children and grandchildren.

She was married to Robert Murren, DMD until his death in 1977. She had four daughters with Robert- Susan, Vickie, Patty and Judy. She married David Gardner in 1979 and had a daughter- Laura. Sue was a devoted mother, grandmother and tennis coach.
Sue is survived by David, her husband of 43 years, her daughters: Susan, Vickie, Patty, Judy and Laura, and her six grandchildren: Aria, Cole, Jack, Brady, Madeleine and William.
She was the light of our family and will be deeply missed. "The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts." Psalm 28:7
