Obituary for Suzanne Margaret Reilly (Kieley)

Suzanne Margaret Reilly passed to her eternal rest on Monday, December, 21, 2020 in her Sandy Hook home. During her nine year struggle with Alzheimer's, her family and friends and the compassionate staff of Regional Hospice cared for her. She and her husband, James, who survive s her, moved to this home in 1973 - a home that she filled with her laughter, her singing, and her boundless love. There she devoted her life to raising a family. And whether a weekday meal or a holiday dinner, she welcomed all to her table where there was always enough for family, friends and neighbors - she made sure of it . The home she made for her family was also a home to the many children she cared for throughout the years. To have made a difference in the life of a child is something she will be remembered for by so many. Suzanne was born May 16, 1949, in Derby, CT to Richard and Margaret Skibo Kieley. She grew up in Derby and attended St. Mary's School and later St. Mary's High School in New Haven. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University. As her children entered school she immersed herself in their activities. She served as a leader of Cub Scout Den 2 and spent many years with the Sandy Hook School PTA, serving a term as its president. Her favorite PTA event was the annual Jolly Green Giant Fair.

She is also survived by a daughter, Sarahanne Kearns and husband Ron, of Cheshire; two sons, Scott Reilly and wife, Laurie, of South Kingstown, RI, and Matthew Reilly of Southbury. She is also survived by two brothers, Michael Kieley and wife Lynn, and Thomas Kieley and wife Linda, all of Derby, as well as many nieces and nephews. Suzanne was proud to be the Godmother of Timothy Kieley of Shelton, and Damon Sutton of Southbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday December 21, 2020 at 10:30am directly in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.
