Thomas J Hayes, a longtime resident of Newtown, died peacefully on January 13th. He retired from SNET after 30 years. He was a member of the Newtown Fish & Game Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. As a young man he enjoyed riding in the rodeo. He was the beloved husband of Kate (Taylor) Hayes, father of Catherine, Helen, Joanne, Paula, Eliza, and Daniel. Tom was grandfather to George, Mike, Crystal, Sandra, Jesse Ross, Miles, Jacob and Tyler, also leaves behind six great grandchildren and two in the oven. Friends may call from 11am to1pm Sunday January 17th at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St Newtown. Funeral services will follow. Interment will be in Southford Cemetery, Oxford.
