Obituary for Thomas Francis "Tom" Scanlon

Thomas F. Scanlon, 83 previously a longtime resident of Norwalk and Georgetown died Friday March 20, 2020 in Bethel Health Care Center, Bethel, CT. Tom was born in Norwalk January 13, 1937 a son of Thomas and Kathleen (Burke) Scanlon. He was a graduate of Norwalk High School and attend Norwalk Community College where he studied Liberal Arts. Tom graduated from the Ford Motor School of Heavy Equipment Sales and Engineering. Following his schooling, Tom joined the Connecticut State Police and then transfered to the Town of Wilton Police Department. He then again transfered to constable status serving the Connecticut Superior Courts. Tom started two successful businesses and then semi-retired. He worked semi-professionally playing Celtic and Liturgical music at many area venues. For over 16 years, Tom was a broadcaster at Fairfield University Radio (WVOF) broadcasting primarily Celtic Music of all six of the Celtic Nations, plus legendary and traditional Country Music on FM and the Internet.

Tom was predeceased by his wife Vivian (Horlick) and is survived by a daughter, Patty Cahill and her husband
Charlie of Sandy Hook, CT; a grandson Cody Cahill and his wife Catlin and a great granddaughter, Emma.

A graveside committal service will be held Monday March 23, 2020 at 11:00am in St. John Cemetery, 233 Richards Avenue, Norwalk. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown at a date and time to be determined.
