Obituary for Virginia Mary "Ginny" Chion (Hudack)

Virginia, Ginny, Mary (Hudack) Chion , Born on February 22, 1944 in Flushing New York, left this world, at home, surrounded by family on November 12, 2021 .
Ginny lived most of her childhood on Long Island in New Hyde Park attending Holy Ghost School and graduating from New Hyde Park Memorial High School in 1961. She work for a while attending Nassau Community College. She transferred to the University of Bridgeport where she met John Chion. Ginny graduated in 1965 and worked in New York City as well as Stone Ridge and Baldwin Harbor, New York as a teacher. Ginny and John were married in Garden City, 1968, and moved to the Black Rock section of Bridgeport while commuting to Norwalk for their respective positions.
In 1970, Ginny and John moved to Sandy Hook where Ginny continued her education at Western CT State Univ. attaining her Master’s Degree in Education. She taught full time at Middle Gate school and as a fulltime sub at Sandy Hook School. The past 51 years have been split between Lyrical Lane and Cobblers Mill Dr.
Ginny and John were blessed with 2 wonderful children in 1979 and 1983. Jennifer graduated from Quinnipiac Univ. in 2001 with a BS in Diagnostic Imaging. Unfortunately, Greg was lost to us after a 10-month battle with Leukemia.
Ginny was heavily involved with the kids activities from Brownies and girl scouts while handling several cottage businesses such as World Book, Longaberger Baskets and Mary Kay Cosmetics. She was also involved with St Rose Church Women’s and Book Clubs.
Ginny will always be remembered and a very giving person always putting family and friends before herself. She is survived by her husband John, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Bob, grandchildren Cathryn and Robby, sister–in–law Norma Garcia and nephews David and Mark Garcia and Mikael Hudack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday November 19, 2021 at 10:00am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery. Friends may call at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown Thursday November 18, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, pleased give a donation to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or St Rose of Lima Church here in Newtown.
