Obituary for Vivian "Vita" Bergonzi

Vivian (Vita) Mauro Bergonzi, 90, of Newtown, CT (formerly of Closter, NJ), passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 1, 1930, daughter of the late Frank G. and Lillian (Tumminelli) Mauro and married the love of her life, Frank, in 1954. Vivian graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Hunter College with a degree in linguistics and was inducted into the National Spanish Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi. Her life’s work was as a Spanish teacher at her beloved Academy of the Holy Angels. Her dedication to her family and her faith was truly inspiring. She was loved for her gentle kindness and big heart.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Frank, their children, Janice (Mark), Peggy (Christopher), Frank, Jr. (Mary-Lisa), Katherine (Enrico) & Linda (Bobby). She was adored by her 11 grandchildren, Mark, Jr., Alyssa, Julie, Daniel (Kelsey) Constantino, Vivianna, Frank III, Grace Bergonzi, Emily & Carly Recine and Evan & Jaden King. She is also survived by her brother, John Mauro (Cyndy), and only niece, Susannah.

Private family viewing will take place at Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, CT, on Wednesday morning, August 12th. Friends are asked to go Directly to St. Rose of Lima Church 46 Church Hill Rd.
