Joan McCarthy Yuknek of Sandy Hook passed away Monday February 6. She was predeceased by her husband of 47years, John Yuknek and predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Joan came to the United States in 1954 from County Cork, Ireland. She retired from Vishay Vitramon in Monroe after 19 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Conlan and her husband Mortimer of Oxford; a sister-in-law, Jean Kostro of Trumbull; two brothers-in-law, Michael Yuknek of Swatmore, PA and William Yuknek of Dilsburg, PA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown Friday February 10 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am. May Joan Rest In Peace.
