Obituary for Bernard George McCutchan

Bernard George  McCutchan
Bernard G. McCutchan, age 95 passed way peacefully August 29, 2017 at his home in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. He was born in Weston, West Virginia on June 22, 1922 a son of the late George and Sarah (Blagg) McCutchan. Bernard was raised in Weston and was a graduate of Weston High School. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II as a bombardier in the European Theatre of Operations and was awarded 5 bronze stars over 2 Silver Oak Leaf Clusters. In 1966, he moved to Sandy Hook, CT and was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT. Mr. McCutchan retired as a welder from Unimation in Danbury, CT. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jarvis McCutchan and his oldest son George McCutcheon; 2 brothers, Glen and Paul McCutchan and 3 sisters, Jean Droppleman, Pauline Wade and Bernardine Flesher. Bernard is survived by a daughter, Fran McCutchan of Sandy Hook, CT; 3 sons, Charles McCutchan and his wife Pam of Mooresville, NC, William McCutchan and his wife Anne of Southbury, CT and Robert McCutchan and his wife Joyce of Winfield, West Virginia; Eleven grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday September 3, 2017 at 11:00am in the Churchville Methodist Church, Churchville, West Virginia. Interment in McCutchan Liberty Cemetery, Stear Run, West Virginia will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
