Obituary for Amalia Caggiano (De Lillo)

Amalia Caggiano, 87, a resident of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown passed away on Sunday, November 15th at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Bologna, Italy on September 11th, 1922. Amalia moved to this Country in 1947 and resided in Bridgeport. Her family moved to Monroe in 1962, where she lived for many years before moving to Newtown. She was an active member of the Residents Association of Nunnawauk Meadows and volunteered her time and money to various activities. Mrs. Caggiano was a member of the Red Hat Society of Newtown. She worked for the Valve Corporation of America in Bridgeport for many years, and retired from DuPont.
Amalia leaves her devoted family; a son, Vincent Caggiano, and his wife Janet of Watertown: Four Grandchildren; Alan Caggiano and his wife, Heather, of Greenville North Carolina; Melissa Caggiano-Kegel and her husband Christopher, also of Greenville North Carolina, Vincent (VJ) Caggiano and Christina (Tina) Caggiano, both of Watertown and seven great-grandchildren.
She also survived by three bothers; Alberico De Lillo and his wife Beatrice of Bologna, Italy; Fausto De Lillo and his wife Luisa of Bologna, Italy, and Generoso (Gino) De Lillo, and his wife, Maria Teresa of Clearwater, FL.
She leaves two sister-in-laws; Rose Jenkins of Bridgeport and Dolores Bertola of Newtown, as well as many loving nieces and nephews and godchildren in the United States and Italy. She will be missed by her many friends at Nunnawauk Meadows, especially her dear friend Mary Panciera.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Vincent (Jimmy) Caggiano, and her daughter, Ana Maria Caggiano, her parents; Michele and Ida De Lillo, and her brother, Rocco De Lillo.
Calling hours are from 5pm to 7pm on Friday December 11th in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Prayer service will be held at 7:00pm. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nunnawauk Meadows Residents Association, 3 Nunnawauk Road, Newtown, CT 06470
