Charles Edward Shepard, 91 of Newtown passed away quietly at his home on Sunday August 18, 2019.
Charlie was a bulldozer operator with the international union of operating engineers local 478. Charles was the son of Leonard A Shepard and Jane (Kelley) Shepard both of Newtown and Sandy Hook. He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn (houle) Shepard, his daughter Sharon (Shepard) Burch of Newtown.
Additionally he was predeceased by his brothers Leonard R Shepard of Holyoke MA and William (Bill ) Shepard of Newtown. Charlie is survived by his sisters Evelyn (Shepard) Cole of Tempe, AZ and Lorraine (Shepard) Hill of Grand Prairie, TX His sons and daughter in laws,Charles E. Shepard and Kathy (Trosan ) Shepard and Alan B. Shepard and Linda Shepard, Kevin L. Shepard and Patricia Shepard all of Newtown. Charlie is additionally survived by his grandchildren with whom he had so much pride for: Trisha Ostrander, Audra Westphal, Samantha Shepard, Charles E. Shepard III, Brian Shepard, Shannon Miles, Timothy C. Shepard, Melissa Pfeiffer, Jessica Walz, George Burch, Kelly Mead, Katie McGrath. Also surviving him are his great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, dear close family friends that kept his life full. An honest man that will be missed by many. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown Tuesday August 27, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a service at 7:00pm. Interment with Military Honors will be Wednesday August 28 at 11:00am at Newtown Village Cemetery.
