Obituary for Clarice Kathleen Coleman (Devine)

Clarice K. Coleman, age 89, of Glenmont, NY and previously of Newtown, CT died Friday March 25, 2011 at Albany County Nursing Home. Mrs. Coleman was the wife of the late Harold P. Coleman for 49 years.
She was born in Georgetown, NY on July 15, 1921 a daughter of the late Rev. Ernest and Ethel (Trickett) Devine. Clarice resided on Cape Cod for fifteen years and then moved to Newtown with her husband and children where she remained until the passing of her husband in 1995. Mrs. Coleman was a full-time homemaker until 1961 when she became employed at Fairfield Hills Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide. She remained there until her retirement.
Clarice enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She was especially fond of trips to New York City to enjoy the theater and dinner with friends. She also enjoyed knitting, walking the family dog and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Clarice was proud of her service time during World War II as a Navy Wave and kept in touch with her unit, “The Wolfpack”
Mrs. Coleman is survived by her children, Nancy Barrows of Glenmont, NY, Harold P. Coleman, Jr. and his wife Lucy of Waterbury, CT, Carol Coleman of Justin, Texas and Ronald Coleman and his wife Suzanne of Salt Lake City, Utah. Clarice is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, Tina, Amy, Christopher, Brian and Shane and by her great-grandchildren, Edward, Rachel and Corey.
Funeral services will be held Sunday April 3, 2011 at 2:00pm in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT. The family will receive friends until 5:00pm following the service. Interment with Military Honors will be at 10:00am Monday March 4th at Newtown Village Cemetery.
