Daniel “Danny” Patrick Cooney, age 48, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly in his home on August 31, 2011. He was born in Boston, Mass. October 8, 1963 a son of Virginia (Kelley) Cooney of Monroe and the late Daniel C. Cooney. Danny was a graduate of Masuk High School and Sacred Heart University. He was an avid music fan and loved the outdoors. In addition to his mother, survivors include a sister, Alice Cooney of Newtown; 2 brothers, Patrick Cooney and his wife, Laura of Newtown and Matthew Cooney of Bethel. Daniel was also the uncle of two nieces and a nephew all of Newtown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe Wednesday Sept. 7, 2011 at 10:00am. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery, Sandy Hook.
