Dolores Powell Sovern, age 82 of Sandy Hook passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2011. Mrs. Sovern was the wife of the late Norman Sovern. She was born in Monroe, NY on August 31, 1929 a daughter of the late John and Margaret (McCloy) Powell. Dolores was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School and before her retirement in 1994 was a longtime officer of General Investors, Inc. of New York City. Mrs. Sovern was previously a resident of Bayside, Queens, NY before moving to Sandy Hook. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church. Survivors include a son Michael S. Sovern and his wife Maureen of Sandy Hook; 2 daughters, Patricia Michels and her husband Gregory and Maura Dundie and her husband Matthew all of New Fairfield. Dolores was the beloved grandmother of Elizabeth and KerinSovern and Nicholas and Kayla Dundie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown Monday November 21, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown Sunday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
