Don F Switser, age 83, of Sandy Hook, and formerly of Newfane, Vermont and Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully at home November 9 surrounded by loving family. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Marilyn (Lynch) Switser. Don was born October 26, 1933 to Earl and Evelyn (Pratt) Switser. He served honorably in the U.S. Marines and was a veteran of the Korean War. Don enjoyed a lengthy retirement after serving many years as a firefighter with the town of Fairfield. He enjoyed travel and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved all things outdoors including skiing, bike riding, and canoeing and had a special love of camping. Left to cherish his memory are his sister Theresa Dillon of Chicopee, Ma. his daughter Deborah Russell of Sandy Hook, and sons, Don F. Switser Jr.,of Fairfield, David A. Switser and his wife Deborah of Stratford, and Douglas M. Switser and his wife Dawn of Weeki Wachee, FL, eleven grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Harry and Earl. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, November 19, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a brief memorial with Marine Military Honors, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
