Obituary for Frederick George "Freddy" Sgammato

Frederick George "Freddy" Sgammato
Frederick George Sgammato, 61 of Danbury CT, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, September 8th, 2016 at Danbury Hospital.

Freddy was born in Bronxville, NY and moved to Newtown, CT shortly thereafter. He attended St. Rose School in Newtown and Immaculate High School in Danbury.

Freddy was full of jokes and stories. He was considered a quiet soul, but his laughter always filled the room. He had a passion for music and playing his guitar. Always collecting albums and sheet music, he enjoyed compiling works from his favorite bands, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, and Rod Stewart.

Passionate about drawing and painting, he filled his home with artwork, and shared his work with family. Freddy, an avid bowler, enjoyed bowling in leagues with his father and friends. He loved animals, especially his two favorite dogs, Abbie and Splinter. His greatest passion in life was the love and daily care he provided his mother and father. Freddy was a wise man with a big heart, admired by all and will be missed dearly.

Freddy is survived by his loving parents, Fred and Georgette Sgammato of Newtown, his sister Patricia and her husband, Stuart Teitelbaum of Stamford, his nephews Peter, Brian and Jason Teitelbaum, his niece, Lisa Teitelbaum-Micolo, and three great-nieces, Evelyn, Makena, and Britney. Freddy also leaves behind his many cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 14th, at 10:30 AM, at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT. Interment will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery, Newtown. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
