Obituary for Gary A. Schneider

Gary A. Schneider, age 51, of Newtown, CT, passed away quietly in his sleep on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Gary was born February 6, 1963 in Stamford, CT to Walter F. Schneider, Sr. and the late Helen Zboray Schneider. He graduated from Newtown High School and after a tragic accident in 1981 that left him a paraplegic, he went on to receive his degree in Accounting from Ancell School of Business, Western CT State University.
Gary was the Director of Payroll for Danbury Hospital where he was employed for the last 13 years. Gary will always be remembered for his love for his two daughters, his love and obsession for Bruce Springsteen the Rock Music Icon and the number of times he attended his concerts, the Dallas Cowboys and New York Mets.
Survivors include his two young daughters, Lana and Samantha Schneider, former wife and best friend, Anne Riley Schneider, his father Walter F. Schneider, Sr., his brother Walter and wife Margaret Schneider of Newtown, their daughters Mali Schneider and Rhea Schneider, sister-in law Celine Ferguson and her family, and brother-in laws, Daniel Riley, David Riley, Mark Riley, Joseph Riley and Joachim Riley along with several Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Gary is also survived by Brian Ashbrook, of California, the truly amazing man, and friend, who extended Gary’s quality of life for 5 years by giving up one of his kidney’s when Gary’s was failing.
Family and Friends are invited to attend the services at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT from 5:00pm – 8:00pm on Wednesday April 30, 2014. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014, 10:00am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 38 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT.
