Gertrude A. “Trudy” Fritz, age 84 of Newtown died peacefully Thursday December 24, 2009 at the Pope John Paul II Health Center in Danbury. Mrs. Fritz was the wife of the late Russell Fritz. She was born in Sharon on March 25, 1925 to the late Frank and Louise Wodjenski of New Milford. Trudy worked for Southern New England Telephone for 45 years as a manager in several Connecticut locations. She will be fondly remembered for her love of baking cookies and her Thanksgiving Dinners as well as her dry sense of humor and kind heart.
Trudy will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews, her daughter-in-law Lucia, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son John W. Fritz and her siblings, John, Joseph, and Frank Wodjenski, Betty Orciuch and Mary Ploch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown Wednesday December 30, 2009 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Rose of Lima Memorial Fund, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470 will be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown.
