- Grace Audrey McDonnell, age 7, beloved and cherished daughter of Christopher and Lynn Zapf McDonnell of Sandy Hook, died tragically with her friends and classmates on December 14, 2012 in the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Born in Bridgeport on November 4, 2005, she was a lifelong long resident of Sandy Hook. A beautiful and artistic soul, Grace was truly a gift from God and represented all that is good in this world. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her big brother Jack Sheriden McDonnell of Sandy Hook; maternal grandparents Frederick and Sheila Dunn Zapf of Saybrook, NY; Paternal Grandmother, Mary Ann Gorbutt McDonnell of Shelton; Aunts and Uncles….
Grace was predeceased by her Paternal Grandfather, Lawrence P. McDonnell and her namesake, Maternal Great-Grandmother, Audrey Dunn Franz.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM, in St. Rose of Lima Church, Church Hill Rd., Newtown. Interment will private. Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the St. Rose of Lima Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Newtown Rotary Sandy Hook School Fund, PO Box 263, Newtown, CT 06482. The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown is care of arrangements.
